Turkish Rice with PINE NUTS and Currants

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp of Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp of Pine Nuts
  • 2 cups Rice (washed)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Allspice
  • Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsps of Currants (soaked in hot water for 5 minutes)
  • ½ tbsp of Sugar
  • 3.5 cups of Cold Water
  • Dill

 

  1. Wash and soak the rice in hot water.
  2. Chop the onion finely.
  3. Take the vegetable oil and butter into your pan.
  4. Add the onions and fry them until they turn pink without burning your oil.
  5. Add the pine nuts and continue frying.
  6. Add the washed and drained rice.
  7. Add salt, pepper, allspice and cinnamon to the rice and continue to fry.
  8. Add the currants and some sugar.
  9. After mixing well, add 3.5 cups of cold water and wait for it to boil over high heat.
  10. After boiling, close the lid and turn on low heat.
  11. After the water is soaked, add finely chopped dill and brew it for 20-30 minutes by bundling it with a tea towel or put a kitchen paper on it.
